Built by Beyer, Peacock & Co. Ltd., Gorton Foundry, Manchester, England, as 5399/1910

AFE's road number: 120 (ex 119). Renumbered in May, 1991.

4ft. 8½in. gauge of track, Wheel arrangement: 2-6-0 tender. The only modification of importance is the provision of a superheater when the "N1" coal-fired type boiler was rebuilt at 1942 with an "N3" oil-fired type boiler.

Tubes: 137 tubes, 17/8in. outside diameter, 10ft. 45/8in. length, 21 tubes, 5in. outside diameter, 10ft.45/8in. length, Superheaters: 21 elements, four tube passes, 13/8in. inside diameter.

Evaporating heating surfaces: firebox: 109 sq. ft., tubes: 698 sq. ft., flues: 286 sq. ft., Total: 1093 sq. ft.

Superheating surface: 267 sq. ft., Combined total heating surface: 1360 sq. ft., Firegrate area (or equivalent): 20½  sq. ft.

Boiler: 4ft. 9in. inside diameter, 10ft. 45/8in. between tubeplates, Boiler pressure: 180 lb. per sq. in.

Two cylinders (single expansion): 18in. diameter, 24in. stroke, Walschaerts configuration of valve gear. Piston valves: 10in. diameter, 41/32in. maximum travel in full gear.

Driving wheels: 5ft. diameter, Leading wheels: 2ft. 9½ in. diameter

Starting tractive effort (at 85 % boiler pressure): 19830 lb., Maximum draw power on AFE metals: 580 U.K. Tons. behind the tender

Power at 25 mph and 40 % cut-off: aprox. 700 H.P., Maximum speed of design: 57 miles per hour (pistons at 320 rpm)

Automatic vacuum brakes. Engine, one brake cylinder 39300 lb., Tender, two brake cylinders 2 x 12150 lb.

Electric generator (steam turbine) built by J. Stone & Co. Ltd., London., 24 Volts, 500 Watts.

Two sanders: 2 cu. ft. of sand on each sandbox, Type of drawgear: Centre screw-coupling and side buffers

Tender: double 4-wheel bogie type, 3ft. ½ in. wheel diameter, 1300 U.K. gallons of fuel oil, 2800 U.K. gallons of water
